The DUBAI CREEK GOLF & YACHT CLUB, venue
of this year´s Dubai Desert Classic, is Dubai´s sporting oasis: a golf and
leisure haven surrounded by the city, a hallmark of service and excellence. The
magnificient clubhouse - its design mirroring the sails of the traditional
Arabian dhow - became an instant landmark when opened in 1993.

The club´s 18-hole, par 72 Championship course
rolls 6,839 undulating yards along well-groomed fairways lined with date and
coconut palms and shrubbery that lend a distinctly tropical air. Landscaped
hillocks shield you from istractions to concentrate on the challenges ahead.
Fairways and approaches are narrow, demanding precision; flat areas are few and
far between.

Attractive water hazards abound: one of the
course´s six lakes separates tee and pin on the 8th, two more await on the
tenth, while the 17th and 18th, lying alongside the Creek, make for a memorable
finish to this attractive and eminently playable course. Your golfing day here
extends into the night on the floodlit nine hole par 27 course and three
practice holes wchich complement the also floodlit driving range and putting
green. |
